Overview Film
While some carbon is captured by the land and oceans, half remains in the atmosphere where it accelerates climate change. The world’s oceans offer several potential options to us as we look to capture more atmospheric carbon. We created this whiteboard animation for CEA Consulting, which looks at how these could function.

The Brief
Working with CEA Consulting, the animation we created needed to act as an introduction to proposed solutions in the storage of carbon in our oceans, delivered in an informative tone which focused evenly on all the solutions explored. Our visuals had to conform to brand guidelines and operate at a level of scale which showed the processes in full. Our visual approach had to pair scientific accuracy with a clean and engaging delivery.
The Explainer Video
Our approach to visualizing CEA Consulting’s message encompassed data-visualization, the presentation of scientific processes on a backdrop of rich illustration and focused studies into the mechanics of different solutions. Dynamic animation and engaging, charm infused illustration allowed us to make the message understandable, memorable and engaging. Graphic data such as the opening pie-chart received added impact from the supplementary illustrations, while the centre-piece of a coastal and ocean cross section created the ideal stage and scale to play out natural processes - with added charm from inclusions such as the creatures that inhabit our oceans. Detailed close-ups of each proposed solution allowed us to explain fully and equally the method and considerations attached - with the use of visual metaphors such as padlocks and icon imagery throughout to highlight key points in the professional voiceover and carefully written script.
Ending on a clear call to action, our animation gave a thorough overview of the situation we face and the way our oceans do, and could further, capture carbon.
