The client
Incorporated in 1988, the UK head-quartered CCL group have worked with many of the world’s leading financial services firms. CCL has two distinct businesses. CCL Compliance specialise in providing regulatory compliance consultancy services to financial services firms from their offices in the UK, UAE and India.
The CCL Academy provide Compliance, financial crime, regulatory and CISI training to firms throughout the UK, Middle East and beyond.
In preparation for the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority’s Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR) which comes into effect in December 2019, CCL came to us to create a 60 second film raising awareness around what the new regulations mean.
The challenge
It was important to apply a light touch with this film, focusing on the importance of the regulations while also showing CCL’s credentials in delivering training and consultancy services around them. As an awareness raising film it was essential that this film could work with or without context and engage viewers, leaving people with the message ‘is it on your radar?’
It was also important to represent both CCL brands equally.
The film
Over 60 seconds CCL explain the new SM&CR regulations and the implications they will have for FCA regulated firms.
We utilised the whiteboard animation toolbox to illustrate this film in a light and approachable way while bringing clarity and relatability to the SM&CR. The foundations of this were in the professional yet accessible way we mapped information in space. Mapping the information in this way allowed us to explain and expand on the information viewers needed to know. To connect with the audience, we used charming characters that spoke to the films audience. These characters combined with typography, also designed with charm, developed the films engaging yet informative style further. A carefully worded voiceover completed the animation, highlighting CCL’s expertise and knowledge while leaving viewers with the message to be aware and prepare for this new legislation.
